So you have a little space at home in a gym. Ready to take the plunge and get some equipment so you can train without having to wait for the computer, listening to music that can not stand or wiping the sweat of others outside of the machines.
But where do you start? What team should arrive in order to maximize what you can do in the space you have available? In case of obtaining a multi-station machine? What is all this talk of being able to do more than 50 "exercises the quality of the club? "
At this time, since all of the head. The equipment you need to maximize your space is simple and very basic and will allow to literally hundreds of exercises!
Essential # 1 - Adjustable Dumbells
If only I could have only one type of equipment in my home gym would be a good set of adjustable weight dumbbells. You can do a variety of exercises for every single bodypart with just a simple pair of dumbbells.
How dumbells adjustable means you can easily change the weight you are working with while still not using up a lot of space in your home gym. If you have pre-made dumbells, you have to put aside space (or get a good dumbell rack) for rows of individual dumbells.
If you have the space (and money!), Pre-made dumbells are certainly more convenient to use. But if you're tight on room, lining up your dumbells may not be an option. And, of course, pre-made dumbells are going to be much more expensive to get a decent range of weight.
When it comes to adjustable dumbbells, you have several options. So far, the most convenient are the style of dumbells PowerBlock (Bowflex and Nautilus also have products like that).
With this style, all you have to do is basically flip a switch to set its weight on the dumbell. The whole thing is interlocking - they fit in the space of just two dumbbells and give you a good range of weights to work.
The main options other are the "make it yourself" free weight dumbbells. With these, you basically have weight plates and posts. With a good selection of weight plates, you can make a huge range of weights.
This style of dumbell will be much cheaper than PowerBlock style but down, it takes longer to put together dumbells and posts that come out of weight can be a little uncomfortable. But overall, for the money, this style is still a very good investment, especially if you are looking to do some heavy dumbells. Heavy PowerBlock dumbells can be quite expensive (they have expansion sets that go up to 130 pounds), but still remain a savings substantially equivalent amount of pre-made dumbells.
Essential # 2 - Adjustable Incline / Flat / Decline Bank
Once have the dumbells, the next step to your home gym is a solid bank. Ideally, you want a bank that is easy to adjust to the slope, flat and decline settings. The most versatile he is, the more you'll get use out of it and exercise more you can do with it.
And when I say solid, I mean SOLID. Do not skimp on this piece of equipment. You do not want a bench folding up under you when you're in the midst of a whole drive (or ever for that matter!).
Essential # 3 - Olympic Barbell 300 lbs Set
So you've got your dumbells and a bench. Now is the time to get your barbell set. The good thing with free weights is that most stores sports that you can get a decent game for a brand new good price.
When you are getting a whole bar, I highly recommend going to the bar Olympic setting (bar 7 feet long). The thinner bar (known as a standard bar) has a much smaller capacity and begin to bend if loaded with more than 200 pounds or less. The thicker bar will be easier to grip.
Once you have all the basic bar, you can easily more weight plates as you need.
One very important thing to take into account the weight of the free ... if you can, always get in a store. If you buy Online, shipping charges will only be about double the price of your order (they charge for shipping by the pound).
Essential # 4 - The power rack
You have the resistance (the bar and dumbbells) ... got apparatus (the adjustable bench) ... now you need a "framework" really maximize the number of exercises you can do.
When you have a shelf, opens not only a much wider range of exercises, including dramatically increases the security and productivity potential of their training.
Because here's the bottom line with training at home on your own ... if you do not have a power rack / safety cage, not in your best interest to do the barbell bench press or heavy barbell squatting. If you stay stuck in a bench press bar with no help at all, you're in big trouble!
If you have to rescue a heavy squat without power rack to catch the bar, you have to drop the bar, we will roll back and try to get out of the way is blocked to the ground. And as fun as it sounds, it's no picnic (especially if your gym home is a concrete floor)!
Even a small home gym has space for a shelf. My first home gym was in a room 10 x 10 and it worked like a charm! The bar can be stored in the frame itself, the bank is well inside the grill when not in use. Many racks also come with weight posts to hold your plates right on the sides of the rack itself, which saving even more space.
Here is another great feature of some racks ... the possibility of adding a double-pulley weight to it. Got this with my rack and was a great investment. It opens up the potential not only you can do exercises with pulleys but also exercises you can do that combine pulleys with the rack!
Conclusion:
If you have the space for it, creating a home gym is totally worth it if you are the type of person who can self-motivation. Some people not have the space or just need a gym environment to realize the progress - nothing wrong with that!
Your home gym does not have to be (and should not be!) complicated. Only a few basic pieces of equipment is all you have to do a huge variety of exercises and get great results.
The best bodies are not built with fancy machines or with "club quality exercises." The best bodies are built with hard work and gold standard exercises such as squats, bench press, dead lift, barbell rows, etc., all of which can be made with four pieces of "must-have" equipment that I mentioned here: dumbbells, bars, benches and racks!
